A Little Space to Fill

I had brunch today at one of my favorite weekend spots, Penelope on Lexington and 30th St.  I foolishly assumed that the nasty weather would keep everyone snuggled up inside and that the restaurant would be without it’s ever-present line.  Um yeah…a little over an hour later, we were finally sitting down to eat.  My pomegranate bellini and scrambled eggs with asparagus and feta made up for the wait, but it’s a good thing I’m a somewhat patient person.  This made me realize that I have absolutely no backup plan for brunch in this area.  Friend of a Farmer isn’t too far, but their line is usually just as ridiculous.
Do any of you fellow New Yorkers have a suggestion for next time?
